I’m hoping to pursue my Masters in Museum Studies at Baylor within the next few years, and continue to grow and develop in my current role with the Mayborn. So now that I’ve settled into my role, I get to start looking to the future. Every day is different and it is truly never boring. I’m lucky to work with the most amazing staff, and work with both undergraduate and graduate students who are so passionate about museums! I am learning so much every day, and I truly believe that’s exactly how you should feel when you work in a museum. I’ve had the best time here in Texas, and my job is challenging and rewarding in ways I never dreamed. I stayed in both of these roles for two years, before finding myself packing up my whole entire life and venturing outside of the state of Virginia, en route to good old Texas in January of 2016! I became the new Visitor Services Manager at the Mayborn Museum here at Baylor, and I’ve never looked back. I then accepted the role of Assistant Manager of Visitor Services at The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News. I initially jumped back in at two historic houses in Newport News, Virginia – Lee Hall Mansion and Endview Plantation. After about a year working in retail, I knew nothing could fulfill me the way museums could, and went back into the museum world. I did this for two years, until I landed a full time job after college. Imagine the stares I got when I went to get gas after work! My first day in costume at Jamestown Settlement.
